Is College the Best Route?

This note is for those who can understand. If you were tagged its not to say you are a college student wasting your time, but I chose you to help spread a thought. College may be needed for some....Think what you want... Dont feel offended please comment...

We are told from the beginning go to college, it’s what you must do. If you want to be successful you
need college. Who tells us? Friends, family, teachers... "You won’t find work or be anything, without a degree..." Do you believe this? Over the last few months I made a change in my life that most won’t agree with. I quit school. Everyone looks at me funny and ask "Are you nuts? Go Back, why leave.... are you thinking?" Take the facts and look around you. College is a business, just like any other.

The goal in mind, make money. They are nothing more than a mere broker; a broker for knowledge that you don’t know how to obtain yourself. Some professors don't even teach.

They tell you to read, and then read again. "Did you read the chapters? Good...now write." Did you know college degrees are good for one thing? They are good for obtaining that entry level position at 30 or 40 k annual that takes years to increase. Nowadays does it even get you a job right away? No you need to intern for six months to year just too even be looked at to be hired at entry level. "What about the loans? I thought I only had six months to before I start paying max?" How can we do this if in six months we are interns? (Most non-paid)

I sit in Starbucks daily now with the New York Times waiting to meet clients of mine. It’s a ritual to get me through the day. One day an employee walked up to me and said... "I always see you here. What exactly do you do?" So I tell them "I rent apartments in Manhattan". So the girl asked me that "Whets average salary for that?" So I tell her.... “A good agent can bank more than 120k their first year in the business..." In shock she gasped and asked what type of degree I had to get this job. So I told her that I don't have one I dropped out... Upset she said “That isn't fair I have a degree in finance from Cornell" walked away.... I feel bad.

The economy is not in the greatest shape. All these people with degrees who have been in industries for years are losing jobs, and can’t even find new ones. You all are paying the little money you have for school, or borrowing at that. I feel bad for the millions of graduates this may that are going to be dumped into an economy with limited jobs available...with no prior work experience. Don't worry go intern and work for free.

I met a man who is a financial analyst for FINRA in the financial district. He makes 200k a year and has no degree in finance. He was a painter. He interned just like anyone else could. He worked for free because in the corporate world loves free labor. He learned the ropes and move up. He got his title not through his degree...but his experience.

School is nothing but networking. It was never what you know. It’s who you know.

Join your fraternities and sororities. It takes one person to make it, to spread their wealth and bring you aboard. Colleges make money off us. The government makes money off us.

Federal loans take money from us. Of course in school we are prepped to go to college. Who regulates the school system? The government... Go to school. Go to college. Secure that regular job. (Some pay more than others)

Work for at least 20 years. Retire. Live a little... then die....

Here are 15 billionaire's we all know who woke up and quit school and took a risk....

What has America taught us?

Who will wake up? Don't be afraid to take a risk... Put your heart to what you really want.
